Two copies of House Details 5 - Special Limited Edition - Collector's Edition auctioned

This special collector's edition cannot be purchased normally, only at a charity auction.

In the first live online charity auction, which took place on March 11th, on the House Details Instagram account, €191 were donated for the sale of 2 copies of House Details 5, collector's Edition, limited to 10 units with several extras, created exclusively for these auctions.

We are very grateful to architect Eduardo Souto de Moura for his generosity in subscribing to the magazines and for allowing the publication of his project. We would also like to thank the owner of the house, Dr. Pedro Mendonça, the collaborators of architect Souto de Moura and the engineers Manuel Pedro Melo, Adriano Cardoso and Marta Cardoso. Without the publication of their work, these auctions would never have taken place.

The money was given to the Associação Pontes de Caridade, which belongs to the Parish of the Church of Our Lady of Fátima, in Lisbon, as it was to them that we asked for information about the most needy people.

The amount will be used to pay the pharmacy bills of Mrs. Maria de Fátima Conceição Dias, 73 years old, who receives a pension of €274 (she has never had an "official" job, she has always been a housewife), lives alone and has several health problems. We are fully aware that we will not be able to change anything significant in her life, that this is a very small help.

This year, 5 more auctions will take place.

The money was delivered to D. Maria dos Prazeres, who works at the Pontes de Caridade Association, on 03/16, as shown in the photo of the receipt (above).

We thought you might be interested to know for auction purposes that the Collector's Edition of House Details 5 is the first time in the world that an architecture magazine has launched a collector's edition. In 2019, with House Details 4 by Paulo Mendes da Rocha and Inês Lobo, it was the first time in Portugal that an architecture magazine had launched a two-volume edition. In the same year, it innovated once again and launched a special edition with a box and other "extras". As always, unfortunately, in these and other matters, competitors followed suit, sometimes more directly, sometimes more indirectly.
